In days of old, a male shaving their penis was usually reserved for some kind of surgical procedure. And even then it was not something that you as a male were all that thrilled about, mainly because it involved some male nurse and a cut throat razor. We aren’t talking Paris Hilton and a vibrating Bic disposable here.

My how things change. These days if you have an unmanicured pubic bush you are looked at as the odd one. And while totally bald is not the norm as yet for guys, it is pretty rare to see someone, especially at gyms and venues where guys disrobe, who hasn't at least done some "personal grooming"

The men of today are far more concerned about the look and feel of the penis than men of the past. A generalization I know but go ask your dad or grandpa their opinions on pubic hair care.

While the clean cut (no pun intended) allows men to feel fresh and clean down there, there is also the mechanical issue of being able to slide a condom on more easily if there are no weeds in the way. So girls it's not just about vanity. Men engage in penis shaving so you are not kept waiting while a condom is applied. 

And whoever thought up the reason that guys shave their penis because it makes their penis look bigger is very much mistaken. I have yet to meet a guy who says that is the reason, and I am sure they would have told me if it was.

So if you have decided that your penis could do with a bit of lengthening.....oops sorry... I mean you want to experience the cleanliness and freshness that only penis shaving can bring, here is your penis shaving 101 guide, a guide to shaving your penis in a nutshell, so to speak.

Firstly make sure you are in full control of your faculties. This is not something you do on an alcohol/drug induced whim, for all the obvious reasons. This area for those of you who don't know is very sensitive and much more prone to pain than other areas that are more razor ready.

Make sure you don't start with the razor if your pubes are long enough to trip over. Trim them first. Get them pretty short before you get onto the actual penis shaving. 

Everyone suggests you have a long warm bath before you begin shaving. This is a good idea as it can soften your pubes and relax the hair follicles making your penis shaving experience easier and more comfortable.

After gently drying yourself apply whatever medium you are going to use (shaving cream, gel etc) and let it sit there for at least a couple of minutes. Five minutes would be ideal.
